Between 1947 and 1950, the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) ordered 20 platform carriages of type ABi and, from 1948 to 1950, another 20 carriages of type BI. The SBB ordered some of these for branch lines. The Le Pont-Le Brassus company (PBr, now Travys) also ordered two carriages.
