On May 22, 1975, the "Swiss Express" train category of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) was introduced together with the commissioning of the Heitersberg line and existed thereafter until 1982. This category replaced the earlier intercity express trains. At that time, they were considered the flagship trains of the SBB and served the most important transport axis Geneva – St. Gallen. The trains were hauled back then by eight specially prepared Re 4/4 II locomotives. Unfortunately, only locomotives 11108 and 11109 still bear witness to that original livery
. With Re 4/4 II 11108, we present one of the more popular locomotives. This "Cream Slice," as it is affectionately known, was still in regular service until 2021 and is currently stored in Olten, awaiting its next assignment.
