Based on the French BB 7200 electric locomotive, the Dutch State Railways (NS) received the four-axle electric locomotives of the 1600 series. Upon their introduction in 1981, they were the most powerful locomotives in the NS fleet. With a service weight of 83 tons, they delivered 4,540 kW and reached a top speed of 140 km/h.
The logistics provider Raillogix also operates locomotives from the former fleet of the Dutch State Railways. The company organizes rail transport for various goods such as containers, metals, bulk goods, and consumer goods.
