Based on the French electric locomotive BB 7200, the NS received the four-axle electric locomotives of the 1600 series. When they were introduced in 1981, they were the most powerful locomotives in the NS fleet. With a service weight of 83 t, they produced 4,540 kW and reached a top speed of 140 km/h.
The logistics service provider Raillogix also operates locomotives from the former Dutch State Railways fleet. The company organizes rail transport for various goods such as containers, metals, bulk goods and consumer goods.
