The "Arlberg Express" was one of those trains with a sonorous name, whose introduction dates back to the era of transcontinental luxury trains. Unlike its siblings, the "Orient Express" and the "Ostend Express," it traveled throughout Austria from west to east.
Over time, the train increasingly transformed into an international train with through carriages. In addition to the core Vienna – Paris service, the train carried numerous through carriages, e.g., to the Salzkammergut region and from there to Salzburg, where these were detached. There were also through carriages from Vienna to Carinthia and East Tyrol, which continued from Schwarzach-St. Veit via the Tauern Railway.
Depending on the combination, it is possible to recreate the train in the different configurations Vienna – Salzburg – Schwarzach St. Veit – Innsbruck – Buchs with the offered sets.
