The "Arlberg Express" was one of those trains with a prestigious name, whose introduction dates back to the era of transcontinental luxury trains. Unlike its siblings, the "Orient Express" and the "Oostende Express," it traveled throughout Austria from west to east.
Over time, the train increasingly transformed into an international train with through carriages. In addition to the Vienna – Paris route, the train carried numerous through carriages, e.g., to the Salzkammergut region and from there to Salzburg, where these were detached. There were also through carriages from Vienna to Carinthia and East Tyrol, which continued their journey from Schwarzach-St. Veit via the Tauern Railway.
Depending on the combination, the available sets allow you to recreate the train in the various configurations Vienna – Salzburg – Schwarzach St. Veit – Innsbruck – Buchs.
