The KWSt.E. was considered one of the most modern railways in Europe in every respect during the second half of the 19th century. The decision to adopt the American system of "bogie intercommunication carriages" was used by only a few railways in Europe at that time. The culmination and conclusion of this development were the Württemberg express train carriages in the form in which they were built by the Esslingen Machine Factory from 1909 onwards. The standardization and strict standardization of the components were the most important features of these carriages. The Württemberg express train carriages were regularly used on the Stuttgart – Zurich and Friedrichshafen – Cologne routes, and for a time also on the Stuttgart – Nancy route. They traveled as through coaches throughout Germany and half of Europe.
