The V 100 series was procured in series from 1961/62 - after testing pre-series machines. It was used in mixed branch line operations on non-electrified routes and in light service on main lines. With an output of 1,100 hp (810 kW), it was approved for 110 km/h. In 1968 the machines were redesignated as the 211 series.
