Product information
The Royal Prussian Railways put the four-axle, superheated-steam type G8.1 locomotives into service in 1913. With approximately 5,200 units built, this locomotive group is probably the largest ever built for freight service. Robust and powerful, the BR 55 25-56 locomotives , as they were designated from the late 1920s, served both in Germany and other European administrations well beyond the end of the Second World War. It was not until 1972 that the DB withdrew the last units from service.
