Novelty 2025: The Polish State Railways (PKP) class TKt48 tank locomotives were an important part of passenger and freight transport on the low mountain routes of the Giant Mountains and the High Tatras between the 1950s and 1980s. The machines were built in the Fablok and Cegielski factories from 1950 to 1957, 191 of which were sold to the PKP.Thanks to its high friction weight, however, the series became a truly universal locomotive in the mountains, revolutionising operation on branch lines with its maximum speed of 80 km/h in both directions. Due to the decline in traffic and the closure of many branch lines, the locomotives lost their area of operation and were taken out of service and scrapped by 1989. Fortunately, over a dozen locomotives were spared and can still be admired as museum and monument locomotives.
